THE UK OUTLAW CHAMPIONSHIPS - 30/31 Maio 2010 Flyer

Girls Jam and Workshop at the Hog Hill UK Outlaw Championships

That's right ladies, this one's just for us! Female riders sadly still are a small minority within the skate sport, so our mission is to encourage more girls to step onto a board and of course support those among you who have already caught the longboarding bug. So, regardless of whether it'll be your first attempt at skating and you'd simply like to experience for yourself what it's all about, or if you're hooked already and wish to develop your skills further and jam out with likeminded girls in a chilled out atmosphere, this event is for YOU and we would like to meet you!

As part of the UK Outlaw Championships at Hog Hill (just outside London), we are organising a girls' longboarding workshop which will equally cater for total beginners as it will for the more seasoned skater g!rls among you. We want to bring you all together so you get a chance to get to know each other, learn from each other and find out whereabouts fellow girl longboarders are based.

We will be covering the basics of longboarding i.e. show you how to carve, footbrake and, very importantly, how to fall. If you are at a more advanced stage already, why not work on your sliding, cornering, or whatever else takes your fancy with us!

The event will be held over 2 days with the workshop taking place on Monday, the 31st of May, time to be confirmed.

For those of you who are new to the sport or simply wish to try out something new, we will have a few test boards available. A helmet, knee and elbow pads are mandatory. To read all the small print (plus directions etc) and sign up, please click here.

The ins and outs of the workshop depend on you, so please sign up in advance so we know how many riders to expect and we can take it from there.

If you have any questions, be they general or specifically related to the event, please leave us a comment or email us at blog@huegelherzblut.de, we'll be happy to help.

Hope to see y'all there, until then stay safe and shred hard!

What?!:
In order to celebrate the ever expanding scene of UK skateboarding we are proud to present the Uk Outlaw Championships @ Hog Hill!
After a few small freerides at the event in recent years Hog Hill will now also be hosting the UK Outlaw Series Championships, after the successful 6-3-1 series which pitted friend against friend & even rain, wind & gnarly bails the decision to hold a freeride & race on a car free hill was made, let there be stoke!
But that's not to say the cones won't be out in full force for both a Dual Slalom & Giant Slalom format as races will also be held on the multi-faceted venue, after last year's epic season it's all systems go for coneheads in 2010!
But what's this I hear you say about the girls workshop? The wonderful team from Layback in Freiburg will be making their way over the event with Fee Bucheler (owner of HugelHerzBlut) & Christine (from London Longboards) providing top tips for female riders of any levels who want them.
Did I forget to mention that under 16s attend for free @ Hog Hill?

Dual & GS Slalom:
Setup for the Hybrid Dual Slalom on the Sunday will start at 09:00am. This will include the putting up of ramps, course setting and laying down of timing gear. Open practice will be run from 10:30am (earlier if possible) with the racing starting at 11:00am. Qualifying will be the best time of two runs, one run in each lane. Starting for qualifying will be individually timed, but in order to keep up the racing impetus, racers are requested to go within ten seconds of being permitted on course, with parallel qualifying preferred (ie: racers going together ASAP). Time and numbers (and weather) permitting, there will then be bracketing into two groups of 16, A and B Groups. If there are any delays then a single bracket of top 16 will be arranged. Starting in the heats will then be via the standard European system of 'five second warning, ' where, once racers are ready, a start will ensue at any point within the next five seconds. Anyone DEEMED to be jumping the start will be given just one verbal warning before being given the DQ penalty of 10per cent of the fastest qualifying time. Cone penalty will be 0.1 seconds per cone. If a cone is hit and remains either touching or in part of its circle then it is not to be counted as a penalty. If a cone is out of place on your run, then pull out of the course and raise your hand immediately. If cones are knocked out in front of you by the opposition's cones then do likewise. A rerun will occur. If these rules are deemed to be abused, then the organiser's delegated referee decision will be final. Even if wrong.

Please can competitors cone-marshall on their way back up the hill to the start. There will be four posts dividing sections of the course. Move up one position after each race. Please offer to cone-marshall even if you have been knocked out of the competition. The heats go through very quickly as the final approached and accurate marshalling is critical.

GS - Monday: We have the track from 9:00am onwards on Monday, so setup of the course will begin then, using the hill that backs onto the hybrid course. It will consist of a single lane timed run with start ramp. Each racer will have three runs (time permitting) with the best of these runs counting as final time. A Top Gear style leader board will show the best riders and times to beat. Again, it is preferred that a competitor goes within ten seconds of the course being open to them, choosing within that slot the best start moment given prevailing conditions.

Again, it is requested that competitors assist in cone-marshalling on their return up the course.

DH Freeride & Race:
Freeriding will run through both Sunday & Monday, with the racing taking part on Monday afternoon with continued freeriding.
The aim is to ride the hill as much as possible, even if you don't want to race you'll get to ride as much as those who do!
The race will be the Championship race of the UK Outlaw race series, probably the only one on a car free road mind you.
The racing will be run in a jam format, which means that you'll probably not race the same person more than once or twice & get to ride with people you normally wouldn't have ridden with. No standing around waiting for time trials here.
Heat size is yet to be determined although at the very least it will be 4 people per heat.
Given the track layout options available the course will change over the weekend in order to provide some variety to the event.
The final race configuration will be determined on the monday.
Make sure you follow the bails, rails & points on Longboard-Sessions.co.uk, get involved!

Girls only workshop, for girls by girls:
